Perth City Link: Station tenancy opportunity

Expressions of interest are being sought for two prime commercial tenancies in Perth Station.

The 120-year-old train station is at the centre of an $11.5million Government-funded remediation program.

Transport Minister Dean Nalder said the two tenancies, near the main entrance on Wellington Street, represented a unique opportunity.

“Due to the Government’s investment in the Perth City Link project, the centre of Perth is starting to come alive like never before,” Mr Nalder said.

“Perth Station, one of the most recognisable buildings in Perth, is one of the oldest railway stations still in existence in Australia.  We are looking for suitable food, drink or retail providers to operate from this prime piece of real estate to revitalise the station precinct and surrounding area.”

The remediation works at the station include repairing or replacing elements of the overall building structure and stability, roof drainage, wet fire safety systems, electrical distribution, cable containment, heating, ventilation and air conditioning system.

Heritage facade renovation works will also be completed.

“When the work is complete, the station’s first floor will be the new home of Transperth Train Operations,” the Minister said.

“By sinking the rail line through the city, this Government has changed the face of Perth. Opening up these tenancies to local businesses will allow the extension of this vibrant new precinct.”
