Are you proud of your life’s work?

This time last week, 880 of the best HR professionals across Australia were gearing up for the industry’s night of nights: the 2017 Australian HR Awards.

financial wellbeing HR awardsIronfish was proud to be the event partner for this year’s Awards, which recognised and rewarded the achievements of true innovators and leaders within the HR industry.

In his opening address on the night, Ironfish CEO & Founder Joseph Chou said:

“Many of you may be wondering why an event like this is so important to a property investment company like Ironfish. The truth is, people and culture form the foundation of our business.

“Back in 2006, we founded Ironfish with two aims: the first was to help people use property investment as a means of achieving financial security for their future – by providing the investment platform and services to help them invest with confidence across all the major cities in Australia. Secondly, we wanted to continually expand and develop the business further by giving talented people the opportunity to grow.

“Because, the reality is that it’s hard to attract and retain great talent if you’re only hiring “employees.” What organisations need are “partners” – dedicated people who are going to partner with you to grow your business together. So that’s always been our focus.”

Ironfish National Apartments Manager, William Mitchell presented the Ironfish Australian HR Team of the Year Award (>1000 Employees) to the talented team at International Convention Centre Sydney. ICC Sydney also picked up the Best Recruitment Campaign award.

Among the other major winners on the night were PepsiCo, taking out two awards including Employer of Choice. The Australian HR Champion of the Year Award went to CEO, Trent Innes of Xero.

“What it really shows is the hard work my team has put in to build our business to where it is today,” Innes told HRD magazine. “One of the things we are really aware of at Xero is making sure everyone is aligned to our purpose and our values.”

And at Ironfish, we couldn’t agree more.

“We know that work isn’t separate to life,” said Mr Chou. “It’s a fundamental part of it. We are proud to have a culture that has moved beyond the old adage of work/life balance. We work hard because we know there is meaning in everything we do at Ironfish. And if our people’s goals and passions align with business goals, then it stops feeling like “work” – and instead, it becomes our life’s work.”
