Ironfish: celebrating the contributions of our young entrepreneurs

On Saturday night, Ironfish was proud to support the launch of the 2018 Golden Wattle Awards, which recognise the achievements of young Chinese Australians and their contributions to Australian society.

Ironfish joined Penfolds, Maserati and Paspaley among the key partners in support of the gala event, which took place at the Art Gallery of NSW.

Bringing  together a mix of public and private enterprise along with federal and state government representatives, NSW MPs Victor Dominello and Chris Minns were guest speakers on the night, along with Ironfish CEO & Founder, Joseph Chou.

Ironfish Joseph ChouJoseph Chou was also selected to be part of the judging panel for the Awards this year, with nominations now open and winners to be announced in October.

“Ironfish is proud to play such a key role in helping to support and mentor the future leaders of Australia though these Awards,” Mr Chou said.

“As a migrant, I think you tend to start out with the goal of building a better life for yourself and for your family. But what I’ve found in my career and as an entrepreneur, is that this dream only becomes bigger – and soon you start to look for ways to influence and elevate everyone around you – your customers, your staff, your peers  and your wider community.

“And as your business flourishes, new opportunities arise for others as well. At Ironfish, we have helped thousands of Australian families build a more secure financial future. Some of my customers and staff have even become my business partners – great business leaders in their own right.”

Since the Golden Wattle Awards were first launched in 2011, many recipients have gone on to make outstanding contributions to the Australian community in diverse fields including art, business and local government.

Acclaimed Melbourne-based artist and previous Award recipient Zhong Chen was also in attendance on Saturday, speaking about the importance of the Golden Wattle Awards – which provides a unique platform for recognising talent within the local Chinese community.

“Zhong Chen is a marvellous artist who also happens to be the featured artist in our Whitehorse Towers development in Melbourne.  Ironfish has provided a platform for growth for so many over the last 11 years and for me, this is one of the most rewarding aspects of building a successful business,” Mr Chou said.

The event also doubled as a fundraiser for The Charlie Teo Foundation, with a charity auction held on the night to support Charlie’s great work in brain cancer research.  Over $42,000 in total was raised, with our own CEO generously contributing $18,000 – the largest donation of the night.

“On behalf of Ironfish, I want to wish all nominees the best of luck; we hope the Awards will spur you to keep striving to greater levels of success and to encourage other young people to strive for success alongside you,” Mr Chou said.

“Not just for yourselves but also for the wider community: for the jobs and opportunities you’ll create; for new technologies or game-changing research which will affect the lives of so many; and for the opportunity to champion real innovation and progress which will shape the future of this country. I look forward to seeing what you will create!”
