在城市中心和周边地区有很多出租房。从市中心向外沿主要交通路线都有租用房。市中心的高密度住宅区包括：Haymarket、Woolloomooloo、Ultimo和Waterloo。
由于新州有约86,000的住房短缺，悉尼的民用房产市场近期有很强增长。
